Brock Lesnar's career-long dominance over The Undertaker finally came to an end Sunday night at SummerSlam when The Deadman defeated The Beast Incarnate via submission in their first meeting since WrestleMania 30.

WWE captured the ending, where Undertaker applied Hell's Gate to Lesnar until he passed out

There was plenty of controversy surrounding the ending because it appeared Undertaker had tapped out, but referee Charles Robinson didn't see it, as WWE Universe documented

The bell had sounded, but Robinson never called the match, paving the way for Undertaker to eventually get the controversial win. The crowd seemed confused by the finish, per WWE and Robinson spoke on the controversy following the match

One of the most memorable moments of the entire night was Undertaker and Lesnar laughing at each other in the ring

Lesnar dished out his fair share of pain, including an F5 into the announcer table

Despite the controversial finish, the vast majority of the match gave fans what they wanted. Sportscenter noted the crowd chant that echoed throughout the building at times

Lesnar and The Undertaker have long been rivals, but it reached a fever pitch when The Conquerer shockingly ended The Phenom's WrestleMania undefeated streak less than two years ago. Ever since then, Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman, have endlessly boasted about the accomplishment.

That led to The Undertaker seeking revenge at Battleground by interfering in Lesnar's match against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Taker's brazen move reignited the feud between himself and Lesnar, and things truly came to a head on the post-Battleground edition of Raw.

The Undertaker hadn't been seen since defeating Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31, but he explained his return by revealing that he was tired of the constant verbal barbs that Lesnar and Heyman produced with regard to the streak.

"I stand here tonight a relentless, remorseless, cold-blooded, vengeful, grim reaper," Taker said.

What ensued was one of the all-time greatest brawls in the history of professional wrestling later in the night, as essentially the entire locker room failed to prevent Lesnar and The Undertaker from going after each other.

Undertaker set out to prove once and for all that he could slay The Beast, and he finally got the job done in his fifth career televised singles match against Lesnar.

Now that this match is in the books, it creates some interesting scenarios for both men moving forward. Each are likely to compete at WrestleMania 32 at the very least, and Lesnar will almost certainly be back at some point before then.

Time off is inevitable for The Undertaker and Lesnar based on their light schedules, however, which means WWE fans will have plenty of time to let Sunday's result simmer.

Some might argue that Lesnar's loss weakens his aura and takes something away from the fact that he ended the streak. At the same time, The Undertaker looks better than he has in a very long time despite being 50 years of age.

Even with the loss, Lesnar should have no trouble bouncing back due to his immense credibility in the eyes of the fans. Both he and The Undertaker would have been fine regardless of how their match played out, and they will both be key cogs as WWE works toward the road to WrestleMania.
