Battling through a shoulder injury inflicted by Neville, Akira Tozawa will get his rematch and challenge The King of the Cruiserweights for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at The Biggest Event of the Summer – SummerSlam!

Tozawa first challenged The King of the Cruiserweights for the gold at WWE Great Balls of Fire, and although Neville emerged victorious, it was only after he used some questionable tactics to secure the win. The next night on Raw, the Japanese Superstar reciprocated in tag team action before demanding that his manager – Titus Worldwide founder and CEO Titus O’Neil – ensure a rematch.

However, Neville didn’t take kindly to Tozawa’s action in the aftermath of the singles battle and attacked, locking The Stamina Monster in the Rings of Saturn and injuring his rival’s shoulder. Displaying his resilience and remaining laser-focused on securing another opportunity to challenge for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Tozawa continued to compete – despite protests from O’Neil – with the injury increasing in severity following a match with Ariya Daivari.

This was exactly the opportunity Daivari was looking for, and he seized it, going after both Tozawa and Neville and making his own championship aspirations abundantly clear. With both Superstars vying for a title match, they collided in a singles bout on WWE 205 Live to determine who would challenge Neville’s throne at SummerSlam.
