SummerSlam 2017 Match Card: Custom

This is the card I would put out for SummerSlam 2017. This is not the card I predict WWE will put out. This is the card I would put out. Again, this is not a predictions video.

Song: Ride by ZZ Ward featuring Gary Clark Jr.

* SmackDown Tag Team Championships (Kickoff): The Usos and The New Day are arguably the two best tag teams of this decade. Having them collide here would only be fitting.

* Baron Corbin vs Sami Zayn (Kickoff): In a perfect world, the Money in the Bank briefcase holder would get a spot on the main card. However, the card is stacked. Corbin and Zayn deserve a spot on the card, so, I would put them on the Kickoff against each other.

* Big Cass vs Enzo Amore (Kickoff): This wasn’t a friendly breakup. Big Cass attacked Enzo twice, so, there is something to fight about. I would have them finish their little feud here and then Big Cass can move on to bigger things.

* Intercontinental Championship: I don’t think The Hardy Boyz should stay in the tag team division if they won’t be challenging for the tag team titles. It would be a waste of their star power. I would still have Matt Hardy in Jeff’s corner for this match, but, not for long. This would be a great challenger for The Miz.

* Randy Orton vs Mike Kanellis: I was thinking about making it Orton vs Corbin, but, I am a big Mike Kanellis fan. Giving him a win against Randy Orton at SummerSlam would be a huge way to start off his WWE career. It would be like how Kevin Owens started off huge with his feud against John Cena in 2015.

* Raw Women’s Championship: I believe Alexa Bliss is the best woman on Raw right now. Pair her up against the big babyface star, Sasha Banks, and you have yourself a great matchup.

* Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt: They are currently feuding, so, I would just continue with that.

* United States Championship: Originally I was going to have Owens vs Cena, but, Nakamura needs to be on the main card. Nakamura shouldn’t be placed in a WWE Title feud right now, so, the best spot was for the US Title. That meant Cena moving over to the WWE Title match.

* Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns: These two have great chemistry in the ring and outside of the ring. I would have them finish up their feud at SummerSlam and then they can finally go their separate ways.

* SmackDown Women’s Championship: I don’t feel the heel women on SmackDown are worthy enough for a SummerSlam title match. That leaves the three babyfaces, who are worthy enough.

* Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle: The current storyline seems it will lead to Kurt Angle vs Triple H. However, I would hold that match off until a later date, like Survivor Series perhaps. Since Samoa Joe and Triple H have an alliance, I would have Triple H choose Samoa Joe to take out Kurt Angle. That would prolong the Angle vs Triple H feud.

* WWE Championship: AJ Styles and John Cena are huge. This is SummerSlam. Give them the opportunity for the WWE Title. Jinder Mahal has been doing good work as the champion.

* Universal Championship: Imagine The Beast vs The Demon. Just take a second to imagine that. EPIC. That is the word.

Notable Exclusions:

- Dean Ambrose: The card is too stacked. Plus, I would rather book a Big Cass vs Enzo match than an Ambrose vs Samson or Ambrose vs Goldust match.

- Sheamus & Cesaro: The Raw tag team divison has a babyface problem. The only babyface option is Heath Slater & Rhyno. I could book a Fatal 4 Way with three heel tag teams, but, I would rather just exclude the Raw Tag Team Titles.

- Neville: I’m not a fan of the Cruiserweight division. I think Neville has been doing a great job as champion though. I would rather book other matches than book a CW match.

- Bayley: She had her turn. Now it’s Sasha’s turn.

- Matt Hardy: I would have him be in Jeff’s corner for the IC Title match.

- Rusev: He hasn’t even appeared on SD yet. I would just hold off his return until after SummerSlam.

- American Alpha: A Triple Threat match could have been an option, but, since SD already has two Triple Threat matches, I would not give them a third.
